New London TravelWatch director
Our sister watchdog London TravelWatch appointed a new director.
Emma Gibson, a former Friends of the Earth campaigns director, will take up her post on January 6.
Anthony Smith, who will become joint chief executive of Transport Focus and London TravelWatch, said:
“We have a shared goal of working for passengers and road users. Emma’s strong campaigning background will be an asset to London TravelWatch, and help both organisations as we work together to continue to drive real change for transport users.”
Rail
ScotRail
The Scottish Government has announced that the ScotRail contract will come to an end early, currently expected to be March 2022.
Robert Samson, Senior Stakeholder Manager in Scotland for Transport Focus, said:
“Over the next two years passengers will expect a more punctual and reliable railway that improves passenger satisfaction as tracked by our National Rail Passenger Survey.”
East Midlands Railway timetable
In December 2020 the operator proposes to make big changes to provide quicker journeys, more seats and a simpler and more consistent timetable.
Some of the proposals outlined, including the introduction of electric services between Corby and London St Pancras International, are a franchise requirement. However the operator is keen to find out what passengers think.
Click here to read the proposals and then follow the instructions at the end of the document to provide your feedback.
The consultation includes information on planned changes to Thameslink services to get feedback from passengers travelling between Bedford and London.
The consultation runs for 12 weeks and closes on Friday 14 February 2020.
