A look at this month’s opinions
Our blogs this month have focussed on one issue – strikes.
Our director, David Sidebottom, wrote about the Arriva bus strikes, still affecting Yorkshire at the time we published this.
As ever, he looks at the issue from the passenger perspective. What’s the level of information like? What about those with pre-paid tickets?
On the long-term outlook, he writes:
“Bus passenger numbers have returned to about 80 per cent of pre-pandemic levels. Bus operators desperately need to tempt former passengers back, attract new ones and generally get people making more journeys by bus.”

Our chief executive, Anthony Smith, looked at the rail strikes that dominated the news.
He writes that passenger confidence in the railway is at risk of being eroded just as many were starting to return to using rail, following the pandemic.
“If train companies want people to feel confident in the railway, then it’s vital they give them the information they need and treat them fairly if they can’t travel.”
