With some passengers slower to return to bus travel post pandemic, Transport Focus is looking at how the bus industry can work together to get passengers back.

More than 130 people from across the bus sector joined the first in a series of new Transport Focus webinars to share best practice and ideas. One of the most common problems across both operators and transport authorities is getting free bus pass holders back on the bus.

The insights on concessionary travel from Transport Focus provided some interesting headlines for this slower to return group of passengers. The full report on concessionary travel will be published in the next few months and the insights shared more widely with partners and operators.

The webinar delivered some thought-provoking ideas and information including sessions giving both regional and national perspectives. From monitoring against Bus Service Improvement Plan targets to bus passenger satisfaction working and reporting data is challenging. It was good to hear about some of the practical examples of what’s working well, and what needs improvement.

Finally we rounded off the event with an update on this year’s ‘Your Bus Journey’ with passengers across 35 areas across England and six regional Scottish partnerships taking part. Read more about the initial results here.
