Transport User Voice – November 2022 – Over to the West Midlands

Good news on the roads

Transport Focus chief executive Anthony Smith and transport user manager Linda McCord spoke at several transport events in the West Midlands at the Conservative party conference in Birmingham.

In collaboration with West Midlands Trains we have been looking at the passenger experience on our Snow Hill lines. We are focusing on improving customer information for passengers on the line and will be reporting back to the regional customer experience and commercial directors’ forum and the Grand Railway Collaboration.

In great news for road users, construction is expected to be completed on a new roundabout at a major M6 junction in the Black Country (as part of £78 million of upgrade works). Junction 10 of the M6 is one of the busiest road network junctions in the UK as motorway traffic heading north and south pass through each day, with connections onto the M5 and M54 motorways nearby.

The busy junction at Walsall has undergone a transformation, with bridges demolished and new, wider ones installed as well as extra lanes added, and the slip road both northbound and southbound widened. This will help to alleviate and tackle decades of congestion there.
