Transport User Voice – October 2022 – Over to the West Midlands

Reviewing services for passengers

We are working with West Midlands Trains to review services on the Birmingham Snow Hill route. Performance had not been up to scratch due to a range of factors including driver shortages so West Midlands Trains is working on a recovery plan as a long-term answer to this. We’ll be giving an independent voice of the passenger view based on our experiences as the plan is completed by early October. You can find more information about it here.

Work has also started and is progressing well on three new areas of activity as part of our involvement in the Grand Railway Collaboration. These focus on customer information and disruption, closer working and revenue protection.

West Midlands Trains has a stakeholder conference coming up in October. Also the Conservative party conference is taking place in Birmingham and Transport Focus will be taking part in some fringe events.

More widely, our work on bus continues through our chairing of the West Midlands Bus Alliance. We are looking forward to being part of the next meeting of the central and north western route passenger challenge panel which is hosted by Network Rail. As well as chairing the panel, we will be making sure passengers are being considered in the development of Network Rail’s long-term plans.
