Could you be the next chair of the Transport Focus Board?

We’re holding a webinar as part of search for a new chair for our Board on 1 September. This is an opportunity for you to learn more about Transport Focus and ask questions of our chief executive and senior leaders about the role. You can register here.

Putting passengers first is the underpinning theme of the recently published Williams-Shapps Plan for Rail, which Government is now implementing. An effective, capable and articulate Transport Focus is therefore integral to the success of the reforms.

The new chair of Transport Focus will be responsible for overseeing, inspiring and delivering the change required for Transport Focus to undertake its role in the new industry structure. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape an organisation that will be central to securing rail passenger improvements over the coming years.

The chair will be expected to demonstrate strong and visible leadership skills to drive forward change and improve performance. You should be a strong communicator with a proven ability to negotiate and persuade partners to deliver improvement, as well as to work closely with Government to achieve change. Lastly, a commitment to an equal opportunities and diversity agenda is paramount.

Transport Focus values equality and diversity in employment and a socially inclusive transport system. We want the organisation to be as diverse as the users it represents. We welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of their race, ethnic or national origin, gender, disability, marital status, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation or working pattern.

£35k for 104 days per annum (working pattern to be agreed).

Anticipated starting date: January 2022.

The closing date for applications is Friday 17 September 2021. Interviews are expected to be held in October.
