Transport User Voice – April 2018 – What’s happening in Scotland?

28 March 2018

Throughout the autumn and winter train service performance has been challenging for ScotRail. This had a negative impact on day-to-day operations and resulted in delays for passengers.

As a result, ScotRail asked former Transpennine Express managing director Nick Donovan to undertake an independent review of train service performance.

Transport Focus met Nick during the review period to discuss train performance and to share the National Rail Passenger Survey results and passengers priorities for improvements.

Bus Passenger Survey results

Since 2014 Transport Focus has spoken to over 20,000 bus passengers in Scotland through the Bus Passenger Survey (BPS). Earlier this month we published our latest results which surveyed 4000 passengers in Scotland.

The results showed that overall:

  • 90 per cent of passengers were satisfied with the service
  • 65 per cent of passengers were satisfied that their trip provided value for money
  • 78 per cent of passengers were satisfied with the punctuality of their service once on the bus
  • 85 per cent of passengers were satisfied with journey time.

Transport Focus will take these results out to governments, transport authorities and operators to make sure they clearly understand and act on what passengers are saying.
