Watchdog calls for safety assurance at London Bridge

06 March 2015

Passenger Focus has asked train companies Thameslink and Southern, together with Network Rail, for an assurance on public safety following scenes of passengers crawling under barriers.

The independent watchdog wrote to the organisations and asked whether passenger safety was compromised during the disruption at London Bridge on Tuesday evening (3 March 2015).

Passenger director David Sidebottom said: “The cause of this particular disruption may have been outside the railway’s control, but Tuesday evening shows how the patience of London Bridge passengers has been understandably tested during delays. Passenger Focus is seeking assurances that passenger safety and welfare was not compromised in the way crowding was managed that evening.”
