New stations for Wales – Transport Focus consultation response

19 January 2024

Transport Focus has responded to the consultation on plans for five new stations in South-East Wales, which are proposed between Cardiff Central and Severn Tunnel Junction. These are part of the recommendations for providing a network of better travel options for one of the busiest transport corridors in Wales.

Transport Focus welcomed the plans for new stations and increased train services – including connections with bus services and measures for active travel. These are essential to support end-to-end journeys and for providing benefits to transport users to encourage modal shift. Service reliability will be key, along with accessibility and clear information, particularly during disruption. We also want to see ongoing engagement with a wide range of groups to ensure design and implementation meet the needs and priorities of transport users in Wales.
