Strategic objectives for England’s motorways and major ‘A’ roads, 2025-30: road users’ views

As part of preparations for the third road investment strategy (RIS3) covering England’s motorways and major ‘A’ roads from 2025 to 2030, Transport Focus worked with the Department for Transport to sense check how the Government’s proposed strategic objectives for RIS3 aligned with road users’ views.

The research, carried out for Transport Focus by independent research company BVA-BDRC, showed that the Government’s draft objectives for England’s motorways and major ‘A’ roads from 2025 resonated well with road users.  The draft objectives aligned with what most road users felt to be the most important priorities for these roads.  The finalised strategic objectives document Planning Ahead for the SRN was published by the Department for Transport in December 2021.
