Upgrading the M4 to a smart motorway – road users’ views one year on

Transport Focus has again worked in partnership with Highways England to research road users’ awareness, expectations and experiences of the M4 junctions three (Hillingdon) to 12 (Theale/Reading West) smart motorway upgrade, a year on from our wave one report.

The findings will continue to enhance the experience for road users during the M4 works and will also inform the planning and execution of other major Highways England projects in the future.
