Southern Rail strike compensation

22 February 2017

Rail passenger woes continue on Southern following yet more strikes.

We are urging passengers, who have suffered considerable disruption over the past year, to claim the compensation they are entitled to.

Since the launch of the season ticket compensation scheme Southern have been in direct contact with nearly 39,000 customers arranging the compensation they’re due. Transport Focus is aware that some Southern season ticket holders are yet to receive the promised months’ worth of fares in compensation.

Unfortunately Southern have had problems processing these claims and have extended the claim period. Southern have assured us that they will continue to communicate the compensation available to passengers.

Passengers who haven’t already heard from the operator, but believe they are eligible for compensation, will be able to apply online through the Southern web portal which will open shortly.

To qualify, Southern passengers must have held at least 12 weeks’ worth of season tickets between 1 April and 31 December 2016.

Once the compensation has been agreed by Southern passengers should receive payment within 20 working days.
