Now the London Overground uses Crystal Palace as one of it terminals even more life has been breathed back into this wonderful station. When the old booking hall had a fortune spent on it a few years back I did wonder whether, rather than restoring Victorian staircases, putting in lifts might be a good idea, but the large scale of this extraordinary location (a junction station placed just before a major tunnel) now looks right again as the station feels much busier. It seems like there is usually an Overground train waiting in the platform – just what you want on a cold day!
