Black spots of the British transport system: number one
28 June 2010
The underpass at Clapham Junction. Britain’s busiest rail interchange.
The underpass is a disaster. Narrow, crooked, steps spill right on to it. Cycles, buggies, luggage, thousands of people jostle together. The new lifts and improvements to the overbridge will help but our expectations have become crushed over the years.
Some public transport is just like this - There seems little hope of change in the short to medium term.
