Bus quality

While there are some strong regional variations over the years the rail industry has become more similar – it’s become quite good in most places. Bus services present a much wider range of experiences. Saw a brand new Stagecoach hybrid double-decker bus in Manchester being pursued down the street by a ratty old minibus run by Speedwell.  Looked like two separate images from the developed and developing world! Consumer choice? Yes, at least there is a bus service for those people who use it, but does it have to feel like the last resort?
