Good news on CallConnect bus passenger numbers

I blogged sometime ago about the CallConnect service. Rising passenger numbers using this bus service is welcome news.

The rural bus service saw passenger figures rise to more than 322,000 in 2014, the biggest annual total since the service launched nearly 15 years ago. It represents a five per cent growth in passenger numbers compared to 2013.

In 2015, plans for developments and improvements include:

  • a new integrated online booking system enabling customers to check service availability and to book and manage their journeys online.
  • a new real-time vehicle tracking facility so that customers can track their bus up to one hour before departure.
  • continued refresh of vehicles to improve the CallConnect fleet.

Really positive news in a semi-rural area where scheduled bus services seem to be harder to provide.
