Rain, rain rain

24 December 2012

Travelling up to Newcastle recently was extraordinary. North of York the railway sits on an embankment which appeared to be cutting through a lake on either side. This type of weather looks to be with us for some time. Making sure the railway is as resilient as possible (while still affordable) should be a key feature of industry plans.

When the weather is really severe things will get delayed and disrupted. However, how the train companies and Network Rail respond is the acid test for passengers. We will be contacting some passengers in the New Year who travelled over the holiday period to find out what their experiences have been.
