Weymouth promenade

23 April 2012

I haven’t visited Weymouth for years and it looks much better than it did. Bit of Olympic money has improved roads, provided good quality park and ride and spruced up the seafront. Bus shelters and real-time information all look good. Seems like quite a natural bus place – restricted access to town centre, long areas of built up housing stretching out to Portland and a relatively old and young population. Lots of buses running everywhere it seems, but the buses themselves are a real mixture.  There is some evidence of First Group investment in new buses, but some real old double deckers wheezing around.  They all look a bit tatty as the white colour really shows the dirt. The new smaller park and ride buses are very smart. South West Coaches a bit better looking. I wonder what Olympic visitors might make of some of the buses.
