When is a train not a train?

28 April 2010

Engineering works meant that Tonbridge to Sevenoaks services replaced by buses. My fault for only checking part of my journey the day before. However, well signposted at Tonbridge and lots of staff around. Newish buses help image. What would be helpful is some sense of when buses are going to leave as you sit there waiting. Then off round the houses on the oddest route to Hildenborough and then finally on to Sevenoaks. Not too painful but I wonder if an opportunity is being missed here. Replacement buses only ever stop at the stations the train would have called at. Maybe when replacement buses are on, staff could offer Plusbus tickets for free so you could use local services and actually get nearer to where you want to go?
