Developing a transport strategy for the Midlands: devolution, infrastructure and local growth

Transport Focus director, David Sidebottom, is speaking at the Westminster Energy, Environment and Transport Forum (WEETF) seminar in Birmingham.

Overall areas for discussion include:

  • Strategy – developing a long-term Midlands transport strategy – infrastructure, supporting growth and next steps for delivering key projects
  • Local connectivity – meeting local needs, creating a passenger-facing service and improving connections between the East and West Midlands
  • Intermodal travel – assessing priorities for joining up road, rail and air travel across the region
  • Next steps for policy – examining the wider national context, the way ahead for the devolution of transport policy, and the potential role for Metro Mayors.
