Special Transport Focus Board Meeting, London

15 May 2018

Passengers are being let down because timetables during engineering works are not being finalised the usual 12 weeks in advance. Passengers can’t plan with certainty, may be making travel decisions based on incorrect information and could be paying more than they need to.

On Tuesday 15 May the Transport Focus Board will hear from three key players: the Rail Delivery Group, representing rail companies and running National Rail Enquiries; Network Rail, which carries out engineering works and puts together the train timetable; and Trainline, a major retailer both in its own name and on behalf of train companies.

The Board will wish to understand the actions each organisation is taking to minimise the impact on passengers at present and to get back to publishing the timetable 12 weeks in advance as quickly as possible. More on this subject, including a letter to the Secretary of State regarding our informed traveller report, can be found here.

There will be presentations from:

  • Crispin Humm, Head of Customer Journey, Rail Delivery Group
  • Paul McMahon, Managing Director Freight & National Passenger Operators, Network Rail.

This meeting will take place on Tuesday 15 May, 11am to 1pm, and is open to the public to attend. The agenda is available here. Please confirm your attendance by emailing michelle.calvert@transportfocus.org.uk

A representative from Trainline was also expected but did not attend.

The presentation from Paul McMahon is available here.
