Your Bus Journey

More than 4 billion passenger journeys were made by bus across Great Britain last year. Buses connect us to work and education, to families and friends, to hospital appointments and leisure activities. They offer affordable and accessible ways to travel, benefiting the economy, keeping roads moving smoothly, and helping the environment.  

Our annual survey, Your Bus Journey, provides independent insight on 48,000 journeys in England, Scotland, and for the first time, Wales. It enables transport authorities, bus operators, and partnerships to monitor targets set in Bus Service Improvement Plans and respond to changes. The survey helps deliver improvements such as better value fare deals, journey time improvements, bus driver training, better information, and new buses.  

We use the survey to benchmark results within local authority areas, showing how and why passenger experience and satisfaction can vary. We share good local practices that deliver real improvements and help governments, authorities, and operators do the right things in the right ways for passengers and future users.  

Transport Focus is working closely with all areas in the survey, sharing detailed results and helping to interpret the findings. We will be holding webinars to focus on important areas, share best practices, and create opportunities for authorities and operators to collaborate.
