Rail Delivery Group proposals to the Williams Rail Review
30 April 2019
Commenting on the Rail Delivery Group proposals to the Williams Rail Review, Anthony Smith chief executive of independent watchdog Transport Focus, said:
“Passengers tell Transport Focus they want a railway that is more accountable and simple to use, both locally and nationally, especially for commuter services. It will be passengers who will ultimately judge whether any changes delivers them train services that are more reliable, provide more space to stand or sit, offer a real customer focus and represent better value for money. Transport Focus will examine these proposals closely.”
Notes to editors
Transport Focus welcomes the Williams Rail Review because it provides the opportunity to reform the structure and systems of the railway. Transport Focus is working to ensure the voice of passengers is placed at the heart of the review.
Transport Focus has made three submissions to the Rail Review: Williams Rail Review: what do passengers want? (February 2019), Williams Review – what do passengers think about the structure of the railway (March 2019) and Williams Rail Review – Barriers to travel: How to make rail more attractive to infrequent and non-users (April 2019).
Transport Focus will also submit a report later in the spring that will review how far passengers trust their train company and what could be done to improve this relationship in future?
