Transport User Voice – November 2022 – We’re back at Highways UK

26 October 2022

Come and see us in Birmingham

Next week sees Transport Focus heading to the NEC in Birmingham for the annual Highways UK conference. We’ll be there over both days, Wednesday 2 November and Thursday 3 November.

We will take part in numerous events, including the day one keynote slot. Our chief executive Anthony Smith is taking part in a discussion called The road ahead: promoting excellence in delivery with:

  • Nick Harris, chief executive of National Highways
  • Emma Ward, director general for roads, places and the environment at the Department for Transport
  • John Larkinson, chief executive at the Office of Rail and Road.

Later that morning Anthony will oversee an electric vehicle panel debate. He will be joining a guest panel with Transport Focus’s Katherine McGowan Downey who will be updating on the EV work we have been doing. Also joining will be:

  • Edmund King from AA
  • James Court from EVA England
  • Liz Garlinge from National Highways
  • Bex Allen from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles.

Highways UK 2022 has already started for some of us, with senior stakeholder manager Lee Rowbotham putting in a stint judging the Highways UK Excellence Awards. The winners will revealed at the event.

Transport Focus colleagues will be available at our conference stand – G13A – where we will be on hand to talk about all our latest research. You will be able to find our report on our recommendations to put users at the heart of the third road investment strategy, our just published motorway services user survey and our Strategic Road User Survey.

A packed agenda and lots happening at Highways UK 2022. See you there!
