New fares for Metrolink

Simpler fares are on the cards for Manchester tram passengers.
The Transport Focus Tram Passenger Survey results for 2017 showed passenger satisfaction with value for money on Metrolink at just below 60 per cent – compared with an average of 68 per cent across all tram networks.
Transport for Greater Manchester has announced a system of four fare zones, with flexibility for travel within each zone and simpler fares from one zone to another. ‘Pay as you go’ contactless payment will be launched later this year, followed by daily fare-capping in early 2019.
