Watchdog challenges National Highways to do better over maintenance of paths for cyclists and walkers

Transport Focus represents the interests of all users of the motorways and major ‘A’ roads managed by National Highways. That includes those who, where permitted, ride, walk or wheel on paths next to these strategic roads.

Transport Focus wrote to National Highways on 4 September 2023 expressing concern about the standard of maintenance of these paths. They replied on 25 January 2024 setting out the actions they intended to take in response. We will work with National Highways to ensure that this results in a better journey experience for riders, walkers and wheelers.
