Transport User Voice – December 2021 – Transport Focus at Highways UK

29 November 2021

Great to be back showcasing our work

Early November saw Transport Focus return to the annual Highways UK event at the NEC in Birmingham. After having gone online last year it was good to get back to a feeling of ‘normal’ with a face-to-face event with people from all over the roads industry.

Our chief executive Anthony Smith took to the main stage on day one for a ‘state of the nation’ panel alongside The Office of Rail and Road and National Highways. Later that morning we also hosted a panel on ‘driving satisfaction: what should National Highways focus on?’.

Across both days colleagues were on our exhibition stand talking to stakeholders about our roads research. Our latest priorities for improvement research was available to take away along with other reports. We also provided the option of scanning a QR code for a digital version of the report through our website.

After over 18 months of Zoom and Teams calls, a return to Highways UK this year was welcome. It was a great opportunity to talk about the work we do as the road user champion – and all without forgetting to click the unmute button.

Lots of planning goes into an event such as this, so we have already started to think about making our attendance at Highways UK even bigger and better for 2022. Hopefully we’ll see you there.
