Transport Focus is concerned that passengers buying tickets online can see ‘sold out’ against particular trains, despite Britain having a ‘walk up’ railway. We are concerned, among other things, about the potential overcharging implications – for example, when First Class shows as the cheapest ticket but at a higher price than the ‘walk up’ fare valid on that train.
We therefore wrote to the Rail Delivery Group in April 2023 raising our concerns. You can read our letter and the Rail Delivery Group’s reply below.
We will continue to press the rail industry until this is satisfactorily resolved.
